Retro Rolling Carts

i love these metal rolling carts. if i see one, i can’t just pass it up. they both came from thrift stores.

this one is awesome, but its going to take a lot of work to get the paint off. i got some acetone, now i’ve gotta get to work.

i actually found this cart today. i love the red! i might just have to keep it :)

vintage yumminess

i love finding fun vintage home accessories. i scored this magazine holder at an estate sale last weekend. not sure if i want to put it on etsy or keep it for myself.

ahhhh, yard sale season….love it!

wall of circles

let me start by saying, I LOvE contact paper! it has so many uses. the best use for contact paper i’ve seen is wall decals. it’s cheap and you can remove it so easily.
i thought and thought about what i wanted to put on the large wall in our living room. it’s the first thing you see when walking into the house.
this project was super easy and didn’t take that long to do.

this was quite fun. i think i used about 3 1/2 rolls of contact paper, and it cost me around $20.

i used a circle thing as a template

i drew around it with my pencil

cut it out with my xacto knife

and made my circle

i might eventually put circles around the whole living room….

Aloha

Shane and I spent last week on the big island in Hawaii, thanks to his company. He had a good year, and in doing so, earned a trip to paradise. We did a lot of eating and drinking; it was not too shabby.
Ironically, my aunt (that lives in California) and her family were vacationing on the same island at the same time! So we got to spend some time with them, which was awesome.

we went on an all day excursion to see a big hole in the ground…well, it is a volcano, but i wanted to see some lava!

the waterfall made the trip worth it

i love forests

i met some great people on this trip. two of my favorites were Christy and her husband Brian. he is 7′ tall, and she is somewhere around 5′. they are hilarious, and awesome peeps. she told us some great stories. people think he’s a basketball player, so everywhere they go people ask for his autograph and take pictures.
the best is how they met. they were at a bar, and christy was smoking a cigarette. brian tapped her on the shoulder and said, “you know that will stunt your growth.” is that not the best?!!

on our way to the airport saturday night, we stopped to eat at the Kona Brewing Company. we celebrated shane’s birthday since technically it was april 10th on the east coast.
Happy 31st baby!

*mobile* inspiration

i am going to make a mobile for my cousins baby, and have been searching the web for fun ideas. i found several pics of some funky/artsy mobiles. my cousin wants one that can stay in the room as the child gets older, so i don’t want it to be baby-ish.
i’m really feelin’ these:

new workspace

so, i really needed to clean up the spare bedroom/my workroom, and there have been some much needed improvements. i put some shelves and things on the walls, added some lighting, and did some rearranging.

i used a spare piece of mdf for this shelf, and covered it with some fun wrapping paper i had. the brackets are from ikea. i was excited to find several good ones there.

i got some metal piping at lowes for this bracket, and stuck a spare piece of wood on top. for me, it’s always fun to mix things up.

windows, bird feeders, and sewing machines, oh my!

So…for Christmas i made a couple fun things for the parents and got some fun gifts too.

my dad loves birds and bird stuff, so i thought i’d make him a bird feeder.

i found this old window down the street, and thought it would make an awesome coat hanger for my parents.

they hung it in their garage

for my mom, i sprayed this silver tray, and drew on it with my acrylic markers

and my sweet sweet husband got me a new sewing machine

and this awesome serving cart that we had seen at an antique store. call me shocked when Christmas morning, it was waiting for me.

and we got about 3 inches of snow in hotlanta sunday night
